Unfortunately due to my stupidity I have lost the footage for part I of this series so we are stepping directly into part II.

I recently received this Pavilion Elite m9160f and intend to restore and use it in 2021. Windows Vista actually wasn’t too bad for me back in the day when I ran it on my Optiplex GX260 so I actually look fondly back at it. I would have loved to have this PC back in the day. HP decided to load this machine to the brim with features. Dual Media Bays, 15 in 1 card reader, Nvidia Graphics, HD DVD Drive, Core 2 Quad, 4GB, TV Tuner functions and Wifi all in one box must have been some compelling machine back in the day.

In this part I restore the machine to functionality. I had to install a CPU as the original Core 2 Quad Q6700 is missing (so was the RAM and video card). I ended up using a Q9400, 4GB of DDR2 800MHz, and a 8400GS to replace the missing components.

Originally the specs of the machine were:

Core 2 Quad Q6700
4GB DDR2
8600GT
720GB HDD
HD DVD player + Lightscribe DVD drive
b/g Wifi
TV Tuner card
15 in 1 card reader
Dual HP Media bays

In part III I will be reinstalling Vista Home Premium 64 Bit and seeing how well it fairs in 2021.
