How To Install & Play Dragon Age Inquisition On Linux – Steam Proton Method – Origin Stuttering Fix

This video covers installing and running Dragon Age Inquisition on Linux using Steam Proton.

Last tested on 9/12/21 using Proton Experimental.

Installation Process

Install Steam using your distribution’s package manager, and sign into your account.

By default you will not have the option to install the game so you need to enable Steam Proton for all your library.

This is done by navigating to Steam / Settings / Steam Play / Advanced and ticking the Enable Steam Play for all other titles.

Restart Steam to apply.

I also recommend disabling write access to the Origin folder, as doing so will reduce any stuttering that can occur when Origin writes to that folder during gameplay.

For me this is located at:

/home/ryan/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1222690/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/

So in that folder open up a Terminal and type the following:

chmod -R -w Origin
